Sydney Growth Trains

The Sydney Growth Trains Project was commissioned by the NSW Government to update the aging suburban trains on their network to meet the expected surge
in patronage for Sydney Trains. This was achieved with the introduction
of 41 new Waratah Series 2 eight-car trains, also called B-sets, into
revenue service.

Scope :

The CWG team provided project management services on the Sydney Growth Trains project across all phases of the project lifecycle. Our key works
included:

  • Leading the Maintenance Facility upgrade works through design, construction, testing and commissioning, as well as asset handover to Sydney Trains
  • Project managed the asset acceptance and revenue service operation of 41 B-set trains on the Sydney Trains rail network through the achievement of Provisional Acceptance, Final Acceptance and Fleet Acceptance key milestones
  • Project managed the Sydney Growth Trains Fleet Enhancement Program which included various on-train improvement initiatives in collaboration with Sydney Trains
